The Derelicts

by Amanda Bullington

The derelicts eat snacks laden with dirt
With the same voracity as you’re
Slurping at the bottom of your cereal bowl.

And while you’re complaining to your
Family about how you finished the milk,
And the grocery store lines are too long,

And you’re too slothful to get there:
The derelicts come sneaking into your
House and find nothing left but crumbs,

And one last soured drop of milk.
