Rose Colored Memories

by James Zealy

Rose colored memories
Dancing in the mind’s eye
Of a presence no longer standing bye
Enticing and sad, happy yet distant

The frail last image
Fades to something more pleasant
Fresh as today, jumping to center stage
The natural conclusion of one so sage

The sadness and loss
Slowly dissipates
The suffering is at an end
The time to renew and begin again

Pulling on the strong memories
Living on what was taught
Gathering momentum in my thoughts
Trying to find the place that’s safe

As life rapidly speeds on
So hard to keep pace
The blaring reality charges full force
The comforting persona is gone
Yet rose colored memories live on

Yesyes! They say that the reason people always sit around and talk about their pasts as "the good old days" (no matter how good or bad they really were) is because the brain tends to filter out the 'bad' memories as one ages...nature may be cruel, but at least it does cushion some, and yes with ROSE TINTS...a great poem with much flow and a comforting message. :-)
