I do not wish for emptiness

by Vikki Owens

However vast the emptiness may seem,
the crawling darkness is not my kin, I have not
ushered forth an
invitation.

And yet here remains the lonesomeness,
the echoing hollow of my environment
and still another day stacked on another day,
a viscosity of
Nill.

This is very evocative. Nobody asks to be sorrowful, but yet it's still a part of our lives, something we must endure day to day.
