One Sweet Night

by Kate Demeree

Eventide is coming; the sun is setting low,
The days worth of worries on dewy slippers go.
Nightsky clouds gather, to kiss the earth goodnight,
Now is the time... for loves golden winged flight.
So, wrap your arms around me; hold me oh so tight...
Love me... simply love me, thorough out the velvet night.
Let me drink from your lips, that which I hunger for,
When this night is over, know I will long for more.
I feel your arms embrace me, they carry me above,
I wrap myself around you, surrender to your love.
Night birds make sweet music, and sing a lovers song,
Their notes wilder, higher bringing us along.
Our hearts beat faster, I can feel yours beat with mine,
Oh, my sweet lover... this feeling is sublime.
When our time is over, when this night is through,
When the song has ended I'll still lie with you.
We'll nestle here together, in our loving bed,
My arms around you, you cradling my head.
Now the dawn is coming, I see the golden hue,
Morning doves are singing... it's time to start anew.

this is very sweet- it is nice to see the old fashioned love sonnet still put to such heartfelt good use
