naked

by Michele Schottelkorb

naked
lying in a dreamworld
unabashedly vulnerable
and yet,
still strong...
magnificent, like the Mighty Oak
limbs of strength and dedication
unbeknownst to the mind of this naked one
loyal and true
thinks deep scary thoughts

ha

did you think that your nature would desert
you?
did you think that your truest self would not
emerge?
despite your Mind's pesky insistence on
persecuting your soul
and breaking you down?

a warrior, this naked one is
a fighter a lover a father a brother
the mind plays tricks
but is not all encompassing of the full being

great thou are...
loved thou are...
beautiful thou are...

Author's Note: i came home one night (i work the night shift) to find my husband asleep barren of clothes... after pondering for several moments, watching him sleep... i wrote this poem... (my Love is sad like me sometimes... so i write to make him less sad)

I like the idea of writing a poem inspired by watching a naked spouce sleeping, and thus I like the first stanza, except for the last line and what follows in the second stanza, as the poem then suddenly takes a 90 degree turn into a different darker direction, then returns nicely to the original tone in the third stanza and closing three lines.
