Starry Night by Tim J BonoStarry starry night
I gaze up above
To be engulfed by blackness shining bright
Again alone, only with my thoughts tonight,
Free to saunter their way toward the sky
I see no clouds tonight, the air tastes clean,
as is my mind
Frozen in time, on every side, serenity rest easy,
And is easy to find
A paragon of nights, with nature at its best
A breeze caresses my face, gentle and fresh
In earth's purest state, I cogitate,
In hopes of ascending to something great
Though futilely optimistic, and desperatly ornate
What better a chance, for me to delineate fate
Ubiquitous, ubiquitous stary night,
Who on this planet is larger-than-life?
Transient, transient starry night,
There must be more than to live, than die!
O' starry, starry, starry night,
Erect me higher than this secular life
Beautiful, beautiful, starry night,
I wish not to return, to the vicissitudes of life
Merely a child and he finds society trite
What would he do with the rest of a life?
Placid, placid, starry night
You are deceptively dark,
But I see your light!
The most precious gift ever given to my eyes,
So simple a sight, yet refulgent and wise
Phoenix, Phoenix, descendant of the night,
What is your secret to burning so bright?
Phoenix, Phoenix,
Who is worthy of your touch?
O' fantastic being, how I envy you much
My dear, dear, starry night
Please don't strand me in such a life
No one else will understand,
No one else, borne of man
A desolate rock, I'm indifferent to earth
Teeming with idiots, ignorant with mirth
O' my sacred, sacred starry night,
I fear I see the morning light
Beloved night do not abandon me now!
I am vulnerable and scared, to where will I go?
One more day, I will not last!
May I come with you, (dare I ask?)
Alas... you need not speak... I know my place
I too, belong of human race
I will try not to fight it, I know you must leave
Who am I to oppose destiny?
The last star, fades away
If only to stop it, but what could I say?
Bright ball of evil, inevitably rise
But know that you symbolize my dream's demise
Starry, starry, starry night,
I was ever so grateful for your presence tonight 10/01/2001 Posted on 10/01/2001 Copyright © 2025 Tim J Bono
