by Chris Sorrenti

Here I sit in an ocean of silence
Just the airconditioner
Humming in the background
How I already miss those
Carefree days with you
Though I know
I must leave them be now

What is this curse
That comes between us?
What wrath has God laid out?
Some would call it Destiny
Small payment for our sins

Though it was no sin
To have had the fun we did
The sands of the hourglass
Laughing as they fell
And now all I have
Are fermented memories
Of the things we talked about
How hard we played

I still have vision for your thoughts
And the way of your thinking
Though in another sense
It has changed irrevocably
The possibilities for us now
Limited only by
The length of our friendship
And the silence that cries out
For the sound of your voice
