I walked in the world and sang to the sky,
called things by their proper names

But now those words won't come
they scatter and hide in the far reaches of
mind and bone and blood.

I am lost.

My path was not made smooth

the path seldom seems to be for anyone... but if it was what stories would we tell?

What a visual punch. Love it.

This piece felt quite "native" to me, when I read it, perhaps it is the naming of things, it felt primal, esp with the bone and blood references...I love the flow, the arc, the progression is immediate but halting, the pause you cause is well timed, well delivered, and left haunting the mind...that last line is just global...kudos poet, lovely piece here...peace n poems to u, jewels xo

...ps, to be clear, by "just global" I meant exquisitely so!

Great Kat. I especially like: "I walked in the world and sang to the sky, called things by their proper names". Did you know that the Arabic term for "noun" derives from the word for "sky"? :)

You never realize how important words are until you don't have them. I think our ability to articulate thoughts/feelings/ideas to others is part of staying on course, great write. :)
