Domesticated Violence by Angela Nuzzo
It is a wild thing
that should never have been
introduced into civilization.
It is an untamed animal
that will lash out to protect itself
or use intimidation
to gain superiority over the pack.
We have become accepting of it –
like it’s supposed to be
in our everyday lives.
Like there’s nothing wrong
with the picture of
a wolf in sheep’s clothing
whose jaws are clamped around
the neck of a crying baby.
We need to tranq this thing
right in the ass
and put it back in its place –
behind bars, in a zoo,
like an endangered species
on the brink of extinction.

like an endangered species
on the brink of extinction." - Terrific ending.
