My Valley - Part 1 - Motivation

by Gavin M Roy

You call to me and I donÂ’t listen
pulling at my heart
telling me You are there
stubborn in my ways
not wanting to sacrifice what I want
knowing You know it too
if I donÂ’t listen soon
IÂ’m afraid YouÂ’ll impress upon me
motivation

The subject speaks of an unwillingness to compromise a self that he himself doesn't seem to entirely like, "stubborn in my ways not wanting to sacrifice what I want" - there is self recognition here amidst the relentless justifications. "You call to me and I don’t listen...if I don’t listen soon I’m afraid You’ll impress upon me motivation" - this is interesting, a bit cryptic but to me it speaks of a struggle between one self and another. One self is full of fear, letting it become an obstacle, a baricade to communication, afraid of letting go the control, "i'm afraid you'll impress upon me motivation", while the other self sees his blindness and laments, "pulling at my heart". Well that's what I saw. Very intersting...I'm off to see the others.

I see the conflict and I also see the hope. The what is of this struggle it self is a motivation from the other world.Yes, I see a receptive heart and soul.

The struggle of one's will against God's will is quite evident. Obviously there is a conflict of desire to be what God wants and also to do one's own thing. A universal trait among humans!

I translate this as a conversation between the Self and the Ego. I also see the incredible last two lines two different ways; despair, in 'I'm afraid' and optimism, in ' You'll impress upon me / motivation. Expressive and impressive, Gavin. pe4ce...

Hebrews 12: 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. May our Lord be pleased to show His presence by your side as you handle this newest challenge to His service. Amen.
