Temptation

by Gavin M Roy

It wouldn’t be temptation
If it didn’t tempt me so
But the constant repetition
Is truly getting old

That wiling old devil
Surely knows his trade
Plying harmless evil
His cards always played.

That old wiling devil
Doesn’t stop his game
Always causing trouble
With his temptations and shame

His voice is overpowering
His wares plied so well
Will they always be so tempting?
Only time will tell.

So I pray " And lead us not into temptation"1
as it does "drown men in destruction and perdition."2

This sounds face to face.A conflict, one can only get out of, by getting into the conflict with a predetermined decision as to who would be the winner. The INTENDING SELF or ' That wiling old devil.

If you learn to recognize him and his wares, perhaps you will eventually grow immune to his temptings ;)

So, so true! Sometimes I think, "I know the devil doesn't have me because he is after me so much!" LOL! Last two verses the whole point so cogently stated.

Thanks for sharing this one Gavin. I can sympathize and feel this one well. Lately I have felt like the fox in a fox hunt where the dogs are controlled by the devil. At least I know i'm not alone. Keep the Faith...
