Fond Memories Created With You

by Amanda L Marron

tears are rolling from my eyes

i can't believe this is our final goodbye

whenever you decide it's time for my number to be dialed

you never cease to make me smile

you must be special because that's a feat

that's a feat only you can complete

you may not realize it but you mean so much to me

i'll look back often on our fond memories

four years we were together at school

always letting you borrow my tools

our prom is a night that i will never forget

i feel that i owe you a debt

for making my time as special as it was

i don't think i could've had a better time with anyone else because

you always made the greatest impression in my mind

and i knew we were of the same kind

swaying and twirling me across the dance floor

i couldn't have asked you for anything more

then when you were holding me so close within your arms

protectively cuddling me, i could feel no harm

we grew closer as friends after that

i know you could tell it too, its a fact

you've gained my respect, my trust

and most of all my friendship, that i hope you would never leave in the dust

this is something i'll cherish for now and for always

great memories to look back on till the end of my days

for five years now on and off, i'm in the navy

and i'll miss you more than words can ever say

i hope you won't forget about me

because when i close my eyes, your face is what i'll see

i know i won't forget about you

because you've caused an indentation in my heart so true

You bring back memories of all the special ones I left behind when I left High School and went out into the world. I never went back. Now some 40 years later I still see pictures of the surviving fellow students...yes, surviving...life can be mean in a forty year span, accidents, cancer, VietNam, and self destuction. But you know, I still see the sweet bright eyed beautiful young blooming women and wild fun loving young men I grew up with, and still miss to this day..thanks for rekindling those memories....Fred M.
