Moment In Time

by Amanda L Marron

A jump of nervousness crept over me

When I heard your truck pull up

I stood at the entrance of my bedroom

Listening for when you came inside

I heard you greet my parents as I walked down the hallway

I entered the living room so I could acknowledge your arrival

I’ve never seen you look so princely

You walked right out of my dream

I felt my mouth hit the floor

I noticed the luster in your eyes

Being the first to see me in my dress

You’re so used to my every day jeans and hoodie

We exchanged my corsage and your boutonniere

Poses made as flashes went off

Sealing this moment in time forever

I liked this a lot, simple and effective.

it is a vivid moment in time, you capture exactly the anticipation of right before a school dance. it is like this in many people's memories! you will treasure this poem in the future like those photographs
