ode to a nap

by Gavin M Roy

Whether on a mat
Bed, couch or rack
Nothing is better
Not even a snack…

Dust dancing in the window
And kids can not know
The inner peace found
In the quiet afternoon sound

Of a nap

Sheets freshly laundered
In dreams my mind wanders
A breeze says hello
As it blows through my window

As I nap

Now my pets are in on it too
Stretched out and sleeping
My bed is like a zoo
I know they like the feeling

Of the nap

Who could argue with the fact
Nothing’s better than a nap
Once you wake refreshed
Time is never pressed

After a nap

Sure my kids protest
At the thought of rest
But when they wake refreshed
They behave the best

Once they’ve napped.

So after all this has been said
You’ve read and read and read
I bet you can’t argue that
You won’t accept the fact

You want to nap

Author's Note: Pardon me for a bit, I'm for some reason tired all of a sudden.

What can I say that has not already been so well expressed? You catch an ordinary event in life and look at it with refreshing perspective! And oh, yes, naps are more important than they use to be! Comes with "maturity". LOL!

This poem is a yawner, complete with arched back, stretched arms, and curled toes. I love an ode with the covers pulled up around its neck. Nice work Gavin. Peace...jadi

Haha. I love to take naps. I like the part on yor kids protesting about naps. When I was little, I did protest a lot. I didnt understand why my mom will ask me to take a nap instead of letting me play. But now, I sure wish I have lots of time to nap. =))
