Sleeper

by Dawn M Williams

I am a sleeper
Waking to the reality
Of a burning world;
A heart reduced to ashes,
A soul engulfed by the
Flames of the burning day.
Silence, torturous, unearthly-
Unheavenly, daming, cold and harsh;
A blue heat eating away
At the souls of mankind
As they look blindly on
At the distruction and chaos
They have perpetuated.
