The Pain Tree

by Dawn M Williams

Alone it stands,
Color undefined
Straight and true;
Truely twisted,
Branches curled,
Barren of leaves,
Roots exposed to the
Harsh elements.
A twisted tree is
Now what grows.
In the dark of night it stands alone-
This testament of
What this earth
Has given birth to
Of what can grow from
This nameless emotion
Some dare call love.

Line 3 seems incongruous, but the rest is vivid imagery and I like the use of the tree.
