Ode to Eric

by Amanda L Marron

How can I say how I really truly feel
There's so much to say and not enough words
How will I tell my heart to you
When no one even knows it
And hope that you will understand my thoughts

You were the one who brought out the best in me
Helped me find who I really am
Never laughed or ridiculed me
Just always gave your love and support
When I was confused you showed me sanity
You helped me find my TRUE self
Not one I pretended to be
You told me to hold my head high
And not to listen when people said I can't
When I entered a male dominate trade
You told me not to take their shit
To be the best that I can be
You shoed me there's more ways to believe
You brought ideas and thoughts out of me
That I never even knew existed
You always tried to keep me happy
Even when we didn't get along
Never ceasing to love me
Even when we wouldn't talk
I'm grateful to you for all this and more
I just wanted to thank you
For being the best friend that you are

mmm, such a nice ode to a very deserving person, by the sound of it. how humanity-affirming when people are so nice
