Masquerade by Katerina T NixLet's dance tonight,
Sweet
And not let it all
Get to us
Just hold my hand a while,
-It's easier when you
guide me through the
crowd.
All these masquerade goers
Are aching too see
What's underneath
I tell them
Everyone here is
Janus-faced
But nobody sees the joke,
You tell me
They'll never understand
The way that I think,
Or why you find it so attractive,
-apparently I'm somewhat
garish tonight-
I'd like to think
That I could protect you
From their repressive words
But we both know
I'm too much of a
Little girl
Too be your courageous
Amazon warrior tonightÂ…
Keep me safe, love
They scare me more than
I thought they would.
Perhaps the world is
Not ready for usÂ…

Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 02/03/07 at 04:22 AM this is sweet...makes me thinkof old fashioned courtship. i know the poem is about so much more...but it's reminding me of 16th century socials with everyone eyeballing the new girl. i dunno. good write regardless! |
