| Full title is Assorted Candies - Some Bitter/Some Sweet. This collection represents the first serious manuscript I put together, utilizing a loosely based theme, assembled in the aftermath of treatment for substance abuse in May 1989. It includes new poems from late 1989 to mid 1994, with some older pieces thrown into the mix. It also marks the period when I first joined the Ottawa writing community, reading for the first time in public, and participating in writers' workshops, which greatly improved my skills as a poet. As a result, Assorted Candies was also meant to serve as a showcase of my work up to that point for potential publishers. The poem, Tree, was published in 1991 in the local University of Ottawa publication, Bywords. Waiting was published in a local anthology in 1993. Other poems from this collection have since been published either in hard copy or Internet e-zines.
