The Sonnet Project
Lately for my English 220 class, we have been intensely studying the Shakespearean sonnets. Having normally brushed aside the Shakespearean sonnets as overhyped sappy works, I had never truly investigated their use and importance as tools for better understanding language and its inner workings. My professor put forth the idea of attempting to write proper Shakespearean sonnets in this day and age. Intrigued, I did so. I began to investiagte it as a form of getting "back to the basics." Having been lackluster in my writing as of late, I saw it as a challenege I was willing to undertake. And thus, it became the sonnet project.
