"Holy Tango" Poems
These poetic parodies are based on the book "Holy Tango of Literature" by Francis Heaney. The premise is this: Take the name of a famous poet, and anagram the name into a word or phrase, then use that as the title of a poem done in the style of that poet. Thus, T.S. Eliot becomes "Toilets" ("Let us go then you and I/ to the john...") By the way, "Holy Tango" is an anagram of "Anthology". The "Dr. Seuss" and "Billy Collins" poems here are done in the style of the poet but not a parody of any particular poem. The Yeats poem is a parody of "The Second Coming", the Hayden poem a parody of "Those Winter Sundays", and the Pound parodies "In a Station of the Metro". All of these poems have been published in the Winter 2010 issue of the online journal Sunken Lines.
