Hey, Pathetics, How Are You Doing
01/22/2023 01:09 p.m.
Hey, Pathetics-

I'm still breathing but it's been a crazy time for me and I'm filled with much anxiety. Why? Because on the afternoon of the 23rd of December I was attacked by a rabid cat that had wondered into my carport. [*a few weeks earlier and very near my house a man was attacked by a rabid fox jumping on his back as he was in his backyard grilling!].
We live within the city limits and I am just outside of Seymour Johnson AFB. The cat appeared dead at first a d had a bloody injury on its front leg. I was 3 feet away, curious, when it suddenly sprang up and grabbed onto my right arm with claws and jaws and would not let go. I was in this situation over 5 minutes in agony before anyone heard my screams. The neighbors called the police and my husband finally came out and beat the cat unconscious. Animal control got the cat immediately but due to holidays, I did not get confirmation until the 29th. I started PEP treatment then, but I fear I may have contracted the disease ultimately anyway because the fangs nicked my medial nerve and artery too. At the emergency room on the 23rd I got a tetanus shot and Amoxicillan immediately. All my wounds and especially claw related wounds went numb due to adrenaline.
[I had a really deep claw puncture in my cuticle and another small bite at the side of my bony left hand finger plus scratches]. None of it turned red or ever got infected and heed quickly. It's the right arm with the worst wounds-the embedded bite that lasted over 5 minutes that developed "infection"....started getting bad by the 26th and on the 29th I was getting my rabies globulin and 1st rabies vaccine injections. By Jan. 1st, during my 2nd shot, the doctor told me he was admitting me. I had to have surgery and now it's a waiting game. I am at risk, even so. The odds are still in my favor. I'll let you know the outcome--if I'm able.

Here's wishing you the best, and full recovery CM. Wouldn't want to lose one of my best and favorite critics.
