Friday and a chicken eaten. Well, part of one at least.
My co-workers abstain on Fridays during Lent. One had tuna, the other calamari. They've heard that Christ and his associates don't care about aquatic life. I joked last week that I'm giving up soda and prayer for the occasion. I've had two Cherry Cokes and given a brief, disgruntled ortation since. I wonder daily at the after-life and the "Almighty"--and today was no exception. But I certainly felt no more disdain from above for my tearing and masticating the over-grilled slabs of fowl than for my hesitation to enter into a soliloquy with the Invisible.
