The Journal of Gabriel Ricard

Blogs and Similar Weirdness
07/22/2011 03:00 a.m.
Someone told me recently that it was all well and good to submit short fiction, poetry and the like to every literary journal under the sun, but they added that a blog might not be a completely terrible way to supplement those submissions on top of the work I routinely do for Unlikely Stories (www.unlikelystories.org) and The Modest Proposal (www.mpjournal).

I suppose they could be right, so I'm trying my luck at a couple of different blogs to promote my work writing and acting (and any other nonsense i might be getting up to), and to also have a potential home for ideas, projects, essays and the like that might not be able to find a home elsewhere.

I know this all sounds pretty self-absorbed, but I'd be grateful as always for anyone willing to check them out. I'd like to think there's some neat stuff going on. I'm not great at keeping people up to date with those times when I do sell something to an outside publication, but either of these blogs (or just those blasted Facebook and Google+ pages) would be a good way to keep up, if you're so inclined.

Thanks as always. It would also be great to find out if anyone around here maintains a blog at either of these sites. You can be sure I'll subscribe or follow.

I liked your wordpress blog and will read it again - at least as long as you're doing the movie reviews. And especially if you review something I haven't seen yet ;0 I couldn't add it into my google reading list though - it caused an error. I'll try again later.

I made it over to your wordpress blog, and the movie reviews are great! Upon reading a little further down, I noticed that you said you hate editing. Wouldn't you know I love editing more than life itself? So if you ever need an extra pair of eyes, I'm definitely available.
