The Journal of Delilah Coyne

How my poem comes to be
03/22/2006 08:44 p.m.
Usually, when I think of something to write about, it's because a two or three word phrase pops into my head and I think it's so wonderful, I have to write something to go with it. In my poem, Ghost, I thought of the phrase "foggy tendrils whirl" and I thought that was such a good phrase to describe a ghost's edges (for lack of a better word) and I sat down and wrestled with the rest of the poem for about an hour... all because of a small phrase that appealed to me. When I thought about it, that's the case for every one of my poems!!

I really loved the 'foggy tendrils' line, it's stuck in my head last few days. You get a bonus cookie for using the word 'tendrils'. Cool word.
