The Journal of Mara Meade

a quote I discovered
11/03/2003 01:09 p.m.

Some folks collect knick-knacks, books, toys... I collect words and quotes. I found one the other day that spoke to me and wanted to list it here:

"Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. The moment you know how, you begin to die a little. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark."

Agnes de Mille, American dancer-choreographer (1905-1993)

I cannot agree with this quote more. That is why I try to know as little as possible, take as little knowing upon myself that I may not die in one fell swoop.
