Punchline by Jesse ChapmanOne more promise,
slick as a shank
tucked into some false
patch on your pants.
It’s a harmless prank, really:
the slow pressure it requires to pry
out some small strand
of hope on that thin little blade,
then to inch it unmovingly over
and secure an entire limb.
It’s a discretion worth loving you,
really, to saw it off slow--
or at least I still
find myself doing so,
despite the pain I’m in. 01/05/2010 Posted on 01/05/2010 Copyright © 2010 Jesse Chapman
