Locomotives by CM BauerHeavy
black
masses
of iron and steel
are
choking out
smoke and brawn,
working the night
through the
harsh
chill
winds,
pulling the world
along with them,
as we are safe,
warm,
inside the Pullman,
sipping midnight-brewed
Earl Grey from porcelains,
watching the frost form
on the windows,
and wishing to go back
to the sleeping car. 07/08/2008 Author's Note: Original: 03/08/2004

| Posted by George Hoerner on 12/24/08 at 10:45 AM I love trains. I road a few times when I was about 12 from Detroit to Swan River in Manitoba Canada. It was such a great experience seeing Canadian forest landscapes. For me this nearly approaches William Carlos Williams writing. Well done. |
