Lock Me Up, I'm Stupid

by Rachel C Johnson

Guys,

IÂ’m love-sick and stupid.
So you shouldnÂ’t let me out
in public today.

I might propose on the corner
of some street I find attractive.

And then where would I be?

...married to a street
thatÂ’s taken my last name
when all I really wanted
was you.

Author's Note: Haha. I wrote one called "The Cheese to My Macaroni" too; but, guys, it's totally not worth reading. Well...I suppose neither is this.

Oh...I like that last stanza. I like it a lot.

This is so TOTALLY worth reading! It's quirky and cute and precious! Any street would be lucky to have you...hehehe.

The Cheese to My Macaroni huh? That's from Juno is it not? I saw that the other day oddly enough. Being that I found this one very much worth reading, I'm sure that one is as well. Great opening lines to this one; true too, nobody love-sick should ever be let out into the open, or at least not around me anyway. I like the idea of someone being married to a street as well. Many different directions someone can take with that, and they all look good to me. Nicely done. ;)

I love the mood and simple/complexity of this work; it is simultaneously charming, laid back, carefree, and concerned: “a cautionary whale” of a poem, rendered down to the essentials, sprinkled liberally with sweet ambergris. Lovely.

Ha! Great songs and love stories have begun waiting on some street corner, including this poem. Very fun!

A great spoof on "being in love"!
