One Day by Nicole HydeSome day you wont pause
before you say goodbye
There wont be that blank that aches
and wonders,
Would I say it back?
One day youll stop,
acting out against your better judgment.
Telling lies to me and yourself,
that anyone could lay better in your arms.
those nameless girls that now fill my place.
You will stop
eventually,
asking,
did I love him more?
Does he still love me more?
One day I pray,
youll stop hurting.
Staying awake at night
questioning your losses:
your love, your freedom, your future.
And when you ask me again,
If I will ever be with you?
I will answer, as always,
One day.
Maybe one day.
One day you wont be angry.
You wont blame yourself.
You wont blame me.
And this war will end.
Next time the phone rings,
Ill answer.
Well have the same awkward conversation,
But before I hang up youll tell me to wait.
And the line goes silent
Ill just whisper,
one day.

Posted by Joan Serratelli on 10/16/06 at 11:29 AM WOW! The next to the last stanza really got to me- so beautiful and yet so sad.
Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 10/17/06 at 08:20 PM ok, this is obviously based on a true story of sorts. this poem is VERY straightforward and blunt especially from a coco perspective. i like it though. i like its true substance. it means a lot to you and it comes across the screen screaming one day. it's amazing how many windows those two words leave open isn't it? regardless, it's nice to see you writing a solo again...good time city.
Posted by Marie Andreas on 10/23/06 at 12:50 AM That last stanza with the phrase "one day" being whispered after the conversation was over . . . just made me cry. Honest and heart touching work, good job :)
Posted by Joy Sy on 10/23/06 at 10:42 PM I love the hope the words 'one day' bring, no matter how tiny it may be.

Posted by Jared Fladeland on 11/12/06 at 01:17 AM i could dance to this, and it would be melancholy and rich
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 01/30/08 at 09:51 AM I think that we have all been here, in this very place which you lead us to with your pen and have longed for things which you described so marvelously well, and all tinged with a melancholy and an ache and even a hope.
