Spirit Vein by Ryan BauerSpirit Vein
Do not be afraid,
ageless soul,
fear does not belong to you now.
One forgets how to exist if we are afraid.
If we are not,
we will at once 'become' then.
An existence weaker, and stronger,
than the life that is not death,
and death cannot take it.
Its vernal warmth will wrench death's frigid fingers'
-shattered grasp-
and freedom itself will be our singularity,
-when naivete has been ours forever
and now will never fade.
From within our clasped and moist palms,
a dew for the morning,
for the day,
for the evening,
and for the night,
-trickles-
We sustain each together
as we sip from this stream born of union,
our link as the only connecting strand staying our place in this....
[ ]
...this state of being which is, and which is not.
We will be complete,
or dissolve into the darkness,
lost forever,
within this livid black nebula
that is the constant night.
In unison,
let us beam radiantly-
Let us outshine the stars,
setting the clouds ablaze,
and melting every sunset.
Our brilliant aurora,
as a vivid liquid
and lucid memory,
will flood our spirit,
A vein without beginning or end,
for our birth was swallowed,
by the deadness,
that is now no more.
Between us,
infinity lies,
Contracted into a cell,
a planet,
a star-
-a solar system,
a galaxy,
a universe.
And then expanded
to traverse the span of a trillion vast distances.
United as one,
as all or nothing we shall be,
lying awake in our dreams
and sleepwalking,
hand in hand. 03/09/2006 Author's Note: This isn't quite how I wanted it, I didn't get the indentations I would like. And I mean it to say that we are larger than a universe, because we have so much more within us to discover even the discovery of all life. We must stick together to embrace that.
